Travis Knight and John Salley were a pair of useless bookends, kind of like a Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney duet.

B-Shaw was so clutch in that game. He brought a calmness to the court while Kobe was unable to penetrate and Portland clogged into the middle to limit Shaq. Veterans like him, Rick Fox and Robert Horry were the consummate professionals, forsaking their individual glory for the good of the team. Greatest team victory ever.

The 1-2 punch was at it's peak and the lob from Kobe to Shaq was emblematic of their quest to win their first championship together. Unfortunately, this would come to an abrupt end a few seasons later. How many of you out there vilified Kobe for chasing Shaq away? And where might I ask exactly is Shaq today?

Instead of yelling vulgarities at the owner, he should have spent his time getting his fat ass in shape.

After Magic, I thought no one could ever replace Air Jordan. He truly transcended the game to a new plateau. Then a kid comes along named Kobe Bryant and takes it to another level and has yet to slow down. Get used to it Lebron, Kobe's going to be around for a while.

I don't know about you but the Lake Show was all I had. I wasn't old enough to watch Magic and the Showtime Lakers so my introduction to basketball was through Nick Van Exel and Cedric Ceballos.

After Magic retired, came back, retired again, the Lakers brass didn't know what to expect. Each season they sat on pins and needles waiting for Magic to make another announcement. Everyone would get all excited only to be disappointed again.

Randy Pfund was the Lakers' version of Steve Lavin. Just because you have the hair doesn't mean that you can coach.

Shannon Brown remains in contract discussions with the Lakers although the two sides are still rather far apart. The Lakers are also in contract discussions with Palo Alto native/Harvard grad Jeremy Lin, who impressed scouts with his performance in the Vegas SPL.

I haven't been keeping up on things, but what is going on with Shannon Brown? I really don't want to see him go.
