They Love It. We Love It. I Love LA…

Century Blvd. Victory Blvd. Santa Monica Blvd. From the South Bay, to the Valley. From the Westside, to the Eastside. There’s no other song that registers more emotion than the 1983 Randy Newman iconic hit that resonates within every Los Angeles Lakers fan. It symbolizes a victory, a moment in time, and a tribute to the proud heritage of the purple and gold. But there are others too. From Jeffrey Osborne belting out the National Anthem at the start of every important home game dating back to the Showtime Era, to the Staples Center crowd going delirious as the Red Hot Chili Peppers Higher Ground is pumped through the arena sound system just as the big screen zooms in on Anthony Kiedis and Flea in the audience. Sometimes it’s just feeling the floor vibrate as the Laker Band starts honking out a Tower of Power medley that gets your blood pumping and your heart racing. Or hearing We Are the Champions as another championship banner is raised. Whatever it may be, here are some great videos and music to get your Laker juices primed and flowing just in time for the 2010 NBA Finals.

You know what I don’t like about “Rondo”? Answer: Mark Jackson!
Does anyone know what the Lakers record is when Jeffrey Osborne sings the National Anthem?
I miss the NBC telecasts, that was the height of the NBA on prime time TV. Now we have to listen to the bung-hole brothers Mark Jackson and Jeff (Uncle Fester) Van Gundy. But at least with TNT, we get broadcasters (Marv Albert, Doug Collins, Mike Fratello) who actually know what they’re talking about, unlike the ABC/ESPN crew who are usually too busy yappin’ about something totally irrelevant.
We stomped on the Celtics in 1987 and we’ll do it again this year.
