Ummm Kobe, About That Switch…
Perhaps in their worst showing of the season, the Charlotte Bobcats routed the Los Angeles Lakers, 98-83 at Time Warner Cable Arena. The game itself is not worthy of an in-depth analysis, but more so of an obituary. Not only were the Lakers thoroughly trounced, but they were seen mumbling to themselves in disbelief as I’m sure, many Laker fans were seen doing as well. In sports, sometimes the sun rises on the other side. And it appears that some people do put both legs into their pants at the same time, for how else could such utter domination be explained? There is no reason behind this loss, nor is there any tell-tale sign of the Lakers unexplainable rise and demise.
The proverbial switch wasn’t in the off position last night.
It was as if the Lakers were stumbling in the dark just trying to find the damn thing…
Rather than dwell on the negatives, I for one prefer to move on to the next challenge. All the banter, criticism and “helpful” hints will not make this distasteful showing go away. So I say, wash your hands clean of this game. Pretend it didn’t take place. “Shout it out” and remove that ugly blemish from a relatively, very successful season. Forget about catching the stupid Cavs and start licking your chops for Dallas and Denver. Who needs home court advantage when we always seem to celebrate our championships away from Staples Center anyway? When’s the last time we needed seven games in the Finals? (OK, so in 2004 we probably needed nine games, but that was because the Mailman was hurt.) Rejoice Lakers Nation because the playoffs lie directly ahead as it does so every season for us. Turn that frown upside down, because Charlotte isn’t going anywhere except to the NBA Draft Lottery.

The Lakers consistency makes me irregular.
Wait, Scottie Pippen in Miami, MJ and Oaktree last night, who’s going to be waiting for them in Orlando, Benny the Bull?
After the game, Phil Jackson introduced Pau Gasol to Charles Oakley. When asked if he had any strong advice for Gasol, he said, “always.”
