Jerry West Just Says No
Lakers legend and the NBA logo himself, Jerry West, recently declined any interest in the GM position for the L.A. Clippers, currently held by former Lakers and current Head Coach Mike Dunleavy. It is rumored that Dunleavy would hold onto his coaching duties while relinquishing the GM responsibilities. Former Lakers great, Elgin Baylor, Vice President Basketball Operations, had been performing this position since 1986 before resigning in October 2008. Earlier this year, Baylor filed a lawsuit against the Clippers and owner Donald Sterling for employment discrimination. The Clippers are said to be also interested in another former Lakers coach, Randy Pfund. While any news about the Clips is often bad news, this got me to thinking, there sure are a lot of former Lakers out there as coaches, assistant coaches and serving in other basketball related positions.

If Jerry West had accepted a position with the Clippers, the NBA would have had to change the logo to a man committing suicide.
Jerry West didn’t say, “No.” He said, “Hell No.”
I’m sure Jerry West went running and screaming out of his house when he heard the Clippers were interested in him!
